HIPAA & Business Associate Agreements

Corevian provides healthcare logistics services in environments where privacy, security, and documented handling requirements matter. When Corevian's services involve protected health information (PHI) on behalf of a covered entity or another business associate, the applicable HIPAA requirements and contractual responsibilities are addressed as part of onboarding, including a Business Associate Agreement when required.

Why Compliance Matters

Healthcare logistics can create privacy obligations that must be addressed before service begins.

Whether HIPAA applies to a particular transportation arrangement depends on the parties, the information involved, and the services performed. Corevian's onboarding process is designed to identify applicable privacy requirements, define handling expectations, establish appropriate agreements, and document responsibilities before qualifying work begins.

How We Operate

Operational controls for privacy, security, accountability, and documented handling.

Privacy Awareness

Workforce members receive privacy and security guidance appropriate to their assigned responsibilities and permitted access.

Handling Safeguards

Administrative and operational safeguards are used to reduce unnecessary access, use, or disclosure of PHI during applicable services.

Incident Reporting

Compliance concerns and suspected privacy or security incidents follow defined internal escalation and reporting procedures.

Ongoing Education

Privacy and security expectations are reinforced through training and operational updates as responsibilities evolve.

Recordkeeping

Operational records are maintained according to applicable business, contractual, and legal requirements.

Operational Accountability

Defined roles, handoffs, communication pathways, and escalation responsibilities support operational accountability.

Business Associate Agreements

Addressed when the service relationship requires one.

A BAA is not automatically required for every healthcare transportation service. When Corevian is acting as a business associate—or as a subcontractor to a business associate—and the applicable services involve PHI, the required agreement and responsibilities are addressed before the qualifying service begins.
